Frosty medium brown and light chocolate. Sharp and beautiful with superb surfaces EXCEPT for about a dozen mint-made parallel planchet fissures, mostly on the reverse. Traces of reddish planchet slag show in the recesses of a few of the most-obvious fissures on the reverse. Otherwise the surfaces are superb with light wear on the devices and a few contact marks. The notable marks are a couple thin nicks in the field behind the portrait, another right of the Y, a tiny rim nick at K-9 on the obverse, and a small dig under the O in ONE. MDS, Breen state III, with subtle bulges at the 1 in the date and the opposing U in UNITED and clashmarks below the truncation but no crack at TATE. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF30. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 35432.30/48058479 Ex John D. Wright, Auction '87 (Superior), 7/31/1987:163 (as EF40) (includes the special Auction '87 Capital Plastic holder and lot ticket)
