1793 S-1 R4 Chain AMERI. PCGS graded AU55Beautiful glossy brown and light chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Smooth with satiny frost in protected areas and great eye appeal. The obverse is essentially flawless except for a small nick low on the neck and a very tiny tick left of the eyebrow; the only defect on the reverse is a minor planchet lamination at IT in UNITED down to the top of the N in ONE (as struck). Sharply struck with very light wear on the devices and nearly perfect centering. Rare M-LDS, Breen state V, with a die crack through the top of TATE. This is the Noyes plate coin for the die state in his 1991 reference on the cents of 1793 to 1814, his photo #26549. Graded EF40 and CC#9 overall in the Noyes census but finest of this rare die state outside of the ANS collection. Our grade is EF40. A premium example of our highly coveted first large cent, about as attractive as you will ever see for a 1793 Chain AMERI.Certificate Number: 35432.55/57538471Pedigree: Ex K. P.
