Very attractive glossy chocolate brown with medium brown toning covering in protected areas and a couple splashes of reddish chocolate toning on the reverse. The obverse is smooth and choice except for a few microscopic pinpricks scattered about, none visible without a strong glass. The notable marks on the obverse are a tiny planchet chip in the field just above the longest hair strand behind the head, another at the right top of the R in LIBERTY, and a third at the dentils before the eye, all as struck. The reverse is mostly smooth and choice, but there is some extremely fine roughness under the glossy reddish chocolate patina at TA in STATES and MER in AMERICA. No verdigris or other defects on either side. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I, before any die cracks. EAC grade VF35. An attractive example of the Vine and Bars edge version of the Wreath Cent.
