1793<1C> Wreath Cent--Vine and Bars-- XF40 PCGS. S-9, B-12, R.2. Die State II. This is the most common of the 1793 cents. The obverse twig joining the three leaves is nearly horizontal and a bit curved, running from the tops of the 7 and 9 to above the corner of the 3. The bow is large and rounded, with an opening shaped like a kidney bean. In this die state a faint crack runs from the rim above I down through CA and to the stem and ribbon. This glossy olive-brown example shows few abrasions beyond a couple of ticks in the upper left obverse field behind Liberty's hair. There is a minor rim bruises at 11 o'clock on the obverse, and some light crumbling at the reverse rim in the lower left quadrant. The light porosity noted on each side is a bit more prominent on the reverse. Despite a few technical issues, this example is a pleasing specimen that would make an affordable choice for a high grade type or date set. EAC 25.
From The Chief Paduke Collection.
