1793 1/2 C XF40 NGC.
1793 1/2 C XF40 NGC. B-2, C-2, R.3. The reverse of Cohen-2, which is also found on Cohen-3, is notable for a very large center dot and a curved fraction bar. The I in LIBERTY is only partly above Liberty's forehead curl. The obverse was formerly used on Cohen-1. Manley states that the "repunching on the 9 [present on C-1] is gone," but this is apparently an early die stage, as the digit shows recutting inside the loop near the top. A small spur from the upper right corner of the 9 is also present. This splendidly detailed and refreshingly unabraded example has mahogany-brown patina. A very faint pinscratch near the lower right obverse border is barely worthy of mention. The dies are rotated approximately 30 degrees clockwise. The Bust Left type was struck for only one year, and 1793 is also the first year of production of the denomination. Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
