Washington Born Virginia Cent, Inscribed Reverse XF40 PCGS. Baker-60, R.6. Breen-1239. Copper. This rare variety is part of a series of copper Washington pieces struck between 1791 and 1792 by the Westwood Mint in Birmingham, England. The 1791 issues were private patterns for Federal coinage, the latter issues were simply produced for export and circulation in the United States. There are two die varieties of the Born Virginia, Inscribed Reverse. The first (Breen-1238) is extremely rare, and has the 1 in 1789 centered between the TE in UNITED. Breen-1239 is collectible, but rare in all grades, and usually found in VF. This mahogany-brown example is evenly struck and has the expected number of moderate field marks. Listed on page 78 of the 2006 Guide Book. Population: 2 in 40, 6 finer (6/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
