<B>1788 COPPER New Jersey Copper, Running Fox XF45 PCGS.</B></I> Maris 78-dd, R.2. Some numismatists believe that the Running Fox (or horse) is a mintmark for the private Bailey facility in New York City, where the Brasher doubloons were coined. A medium brown piece with minor roughness localized to the field in front of the snout. Struck from broken and clashed dies, as usual for this popular variety.
