1788 1/2 C Massachusetts Half Cent XF45 PCGS.<p>Ryder 1-B. The Massachusetts mint was the only of the Confederation era mints actually owned and operated by a government. It also had the highest quality output. This is a nice example of that quality on a planchet that's great in most areas with only a tiny bit of roughness (as made) just to the right of the date. The obverse coloration has a bit of "woodgrain" toning often seen on Massachusetts coppers, but rare on any others. There's a small spot at the bottom of the bow but the coin has no other problems. Listed on page 40 of the 2002 Guide Book. From the Joseph M. Seventko Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
