1786 COPPER Vermont Copper, Baby Head VF30 Corroded Uncertified.<p>Ryder-9. "Baby Head" variety. 126.4 grains. Struck 10% off-center with very strong denticles halfway around the obverse, something rarely seen on this variety. Although there is some pitting and corrosion, this is a very strong specimen and Baby Heads without any planchet pitting are virtually unheard of. Two of the three wheat sheaves are clear on Britannia's shield (or whatever the reverse seated figure should be named. "Britannia" later evolved into the Seated Liberty seen on nineteenth century U.S. silver coins.). Listed on page 51 of the 2002 Guide Book.Ex: Early American Numismatics (5/24/91), lot 101.From the David Bruce Collection.
