1785 Vermont Copper Landscape Type “Vermonts” Type
1785 Vermont Copper. Landscape Type. “Vermonts.” Ryder-2. Bressett 1-A. Whitman-2005. PCGS graded Very Fine-25.
A particularly impressive, clean looking 1785 Vermont Copper that is vastly superior in quality to most seen. The planchet is mostly hard and smooth with a minimal degree of typical planchet fissures and other irregularities. The color is a lovely, natural chestnut to brown and the details, in particular the reverse eye and rays, are mostly clear. One deeper tone streak extends from the obverse base at “8” to just below the central portion of the mountains. This major type listed on page 68 of the Red Book and page 85 in Whitman. A worthy specimen for any better quality Colonial Coin or Vermont Copper collection.
