1783 Revolutionary War New Hampshire Treasury Payout

July 31, 1783-Dated Revolutionary War Period, Manuscript Document Signed, “William Thomson” and “Daniel Tilton,” Soldiers Pay Agreement regarding the Treasury of New Hampshire, Choice Very Fine.

This original, 1 page, 8” x 12” Document is dated 1783 in New Hampshire; where William Thomson of Sanbornton (NH) and Daniel Tilton of Exeter (NH) are bound to the State Treasurer, John Taylor Gilman for their allowance of One Hundred Pounds in wages as soldiers, due to Thomson during the Revolutionary War years of 1781 & 1782. However, if their pay documents are later found to have been forged or unfairly obtained, then this payment agreement is to become null and void. It is Signed at bottom by “William Thomson Jr.”, “Daniel Tilton,” “Dudley Jolin” and “Daniel Tilton, Jr.” This Document is very well written and clearly readable in rich brown ink on clean, laid period paper that has a nice central Crown with “GR” watermark, having some light expected folds. An unusual and very rare type Revolutionary War payment agreement by the State Treasury of New Hampshire.
