<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"><tr><td><em> </em></td></tr><tr> <td width="100%"> Figural and mechanical French gilt bronze pocket watch stand, shown in Tardy's book on French clocks, dating to 1780.<BR>13 3/4inches high.<BR>Stands on 3 ornate legs. An openwork tour de force of relief sculpting: An owl perches above a scrolling shell over which the winged Greek god of time, Chrono, reclines, a long sword/sickle in one raised hand. Above him are various wonderful flowers, cherubs and a rooster, amidst foliage and scrolls. A lever moves a star shaped clasp back / forward to hold a round watch securely.<BR>These watch stands are extremely rare and the only other one I have seen was regilded and the owner wouldn't dream of selling it.<BR>The back-most leg has a small crack. The stick holding the scythe is a replacement, as is possibly the scythe itself. No other damage/losses. The gilding is original and in good condition considering it's age. </td></tr><tr> <td> </td></tr><tr> <td>Reference #: 2678</td></tr><tr><td>Condition:See Description</td></tr><tr><td>Year:See Description</td></tr><tr><td>Title:1780 FIGURAL FRENCH BRONZE WATCH STAND CHRONO</td></tr><tr><td>Location:Boca Raton</td></tr></table>
