1779 Revolutionary War Pay Voucher Signed
1779 Revolutionary War Pay Voucher Signed “Col. Henry Sherburne”. One page, 7.25” x 3.5”, dated August 2, 1779, with endorsements on verso. It reads: “Ordered that Sixteen hundred and Nine pounds four Shillings Lawful Money be paid to Colo. Henry Sherburne out of ye General Treasury for ye Subsistence of the Officers and Soldiers of his Regiment up to the third day of July 1779.” Colonel Henry Sherburne saw action at the Battle of the Cedars west of Montreal where he and his men were captured. Sherburne was released by the British to apprise Benedict Arnold of their situation. Evidently he remained free and took command of another group of soldiers as evidenced by the current document on offer. Has the usual fold creases and is toned, else legible and in very good condition. From the collection of Henry E. Luhrs.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
