“A true and perfect Duplicate of all and every Sum and Sums of Money assessed upon the Borough and Parish of Boston in the County of Lincoln ... by virtue… of an Act of Parliament made in the Seventeenth year of the Reign of his present Majesty... a Duty upon all Servants retained or employed in the several Capacities therein mentioned...".

The Assessors are named as Edward Stevens, West Wheldale the Younger, Thomas Yerburgh, and George Moore. The Collectors are named as Thomas Yerburgh and George Moore. The Commissioners of the Tax are in the left margin: J: Ayre Mayor, West Wheldale, and Thos: Cheyney. The amount collected was £35.5.0. Some overall wear from actual use, age tone to the Vellum and expected wrinkles and folds plus a few very small wear holes to some folds. Docket on the blank reverse reads, in full: “A Duplicate of the Tax Duty on Servants for 1777 for the Borough and Parish - Boston”. An most interesting and historical Tax Document showing a terminology held over from the Colonial Era British tax being collected, even while in the midst of the American Revolutionary War!
