Slightly glossy light olive and steel brown. There is a scuff of fine hairline scratches on the forehead and a couple tiny depressions in the right obverse fields, but neither is at all distracting. The "Victory" was Admiral Keppel's flagship that is depicted in high relief on the reverse of this medal. While this medal is not cataloged in the Betts reference, it is mentioned by the editors on page 310. It was struck after the Battle of Ushant to recognize Keppel's leadership but before the courts martial proceedings were initiated. A nice companion to the preceding lot. Weight 64.2 grains, diameter 24.1 mm, struck in medal turn (head-to-head). Ex Paul Bosco 1/2009-Sydney F. Martin Collection-Martin Estate, Stack's Bowers 11/13/2023:1022 (includes the Martin collection envelope and lot ticket)
