Exceedingly rare original Partly-Printed Continental Navy-Board Issued Commission Document, that measures about 8” x 12.25”, currently housed in a Double-sided Plexiglas, Both Sides Viewable frame, measuring to 12” x 16.25”. Being printed Instructions to “Isaiah Robinson Esq Commander of the Brig Andrea Doria. Sir, Having now fitted you out with every Requisite for your present Voyage, in as complete a Manner as we can... We expect you will do your utmost to maintain good Order and wholesome Discipline on Board your Vessel...” Issued by the “Continental Navy-Board, Philadelphia”. Signed at bottom “FRANCIS HOPKINSON”, “JOHN WHARTON” AND “JOHN NIXON”. Integral Addressed on the reverse where folded fro transmittal: To Isaiah Robinson Esqr / Commandr of the Brig / Andria Doria” and noted “Commission”. Two small early paper reinforcements on the reverse edge causing some light show-through, scattered foxing, and some fold edge wear as shown.
