1776 Printing of New Jersey Acts
1776 Printing of New Jersey Acts from 1702 to 1776. Acts of the General Assembly of the Province of New Jersey by Samuel Allison. (Isaac Collins, Printer to the King: Burlington, New Jersey, 1776), 493 pages, sheep covered boards, includes Appendix, Tables and Index, 9" x 13.5". A rare bound book of Official Acts published by Samuel Allison, which provides original, wonderful insights into the earliest years of the Royal and provincial rule of law in the Americas. Some of the inside front pages have been signed "John Hopper His Book 1795", with several practice flourishes of the pen by Mr. Hopper on the cover and inside. In good condition, but in need of rebinding as the spine is cracked and is missing a bottom piece. Some dampstaining to the lower portion of the gutter margin at the end of volume, causing some loss to text on about 25 of the end pages. An important original historical document, recording Colonial New Jersey's history.
