1776 $1 Continental Dollar, CURRENCY, Pewter VF35 NGC. Crosby Pl. VIII, 16. Newman 2-C. Breen-1092. The major types are crisp on this cream-gray example of the famous Continental dollar. MIND YOUR BUSINESS and the sundial numerals are faint, but most lettering is clear. Minor to moderate spots are noted near the R in AMERICA, the U in FUGIO, the base of the sundial, and the left edge of the New Hampshire ring. Unimportant abrasions are distributed, but only a faint scratch to the right of the sundial merits mention. Struck from widely rotated dies. Since most Continental dollars exhibit wear, they must have circulated, presumably as a substitute for Continental currency. Listed on page 81 of the 2008 Guide Book.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
