1776 $1 Continental Dollar, CURRENCY, Pewter VF30 PCGS. Newman 2-C, Breen-1092. The obverse has the dull gray surface that is typically seen on this variety. The center is a bit weak, but the legend is strong. The reverse is mostly choice for the grade but there is an area a bit larger than one of the rings which is a mix of bright and black. It is probably a spot of corrosion that someone tried to remove. A candidate for professional conservation since most of the coin is attractive and original. The Continental Dollar is one of the most popular Colonials, and often the only Colonial on the want list of Federal coinage collectors. Listed on page 33 of the 2003 Guide Book.
