1776 $1 Continental Dollar, CURRENCY, Pewter, EG FECIT AU58 PCGS. Breen-1095, Crosby Pl. VIII, Newman 3-D, R.3. The EG FECIT variety, with the initials EG believed to represent Elisha Gallaudet. This light steel-gray example exhibits noticeable mint shimmer when it is rotated beneath a light, particularly throughout the reverse. Due to the die alignment, the strike is slightly soft on the obverse border at 5 o'clock, and on small portions of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey rings, but the remainder of this intricate design is well struck. Beautifully undisturbed aside from a few subdued minor marks on the field near the left edge of the sun's rays. Listed on page 81 of the 2007 Guide Book.
Ex: Columbus Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/02), lot 7860.
From The Jones Beach Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
