1775 Book of Acts of Parliament - George III
1775 Book of Acts of Parliament during the Reign of King George III. (London: Charles Eyre and William Strahan, 1775), rebound in 1833 in full calf, 1096 pages, banded spine, 8" x 12.25". This book details on every act of Parliament from 1774 to 1775, such as: forms of convicting someone of a crime; an Act for the better relief and better employment of the poor; an Act restraining the trade and commerce of the Provinces of Massachusetts' Bay, New Hampshire, the colonies of Connecticut and Rhode Island, and Providence Plantation in North America to Great Britain, Ireland, and the British Islands in the West Indies; an Act allowing the importation of salted beef, pork, bacon, and butter from Ireland; an Act for punishing mutiny and desertion; an Act for the better payment of the Army; and an Act concerning taxes on liquor.

George III succeeded his grandfather George II to the British throne in 1769 and ruled for sixty years, one of the longest reigns in British history. He was caught in the midst of political turmoil with a changing ministry and he was blamed for the loss of the American colonies. He became blind and incompetent before his death. This book offers a great insight into the processes he put into place and the types of Acts he felt were necessary during his tumultuous reign. The book is in fine condition; bears the ex libris bookplate of P.Q. Donner; calf on cover has been scratched and rubbed; corners bumped; pages fully intact.
