<B>1773 1/2P Virginia Halfpenny, Period MS63 Brown PCGS.</B></I> Seven harp strings. Newman 25-M. Five basic types exist for the Virginia halfpennies, combining two obverse types with three reverse types. Obverse dies have or lack a period after GEORGIVS while reverse dies have six, seven, or eight harp strings. The six harp string reverse is only known with the No Period obverse type. Both obverse types are known with seven and eight harp string reverse dies. Mostly olive-brown on both sides with hints of lilac and traces of original red color, not quite sufficient for a Red and Brown designation. The fields are mildly reflective, especially on the obverse.
