STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, A (1951) - John Engstead-Shot Stanley Kowalski (Marlon Brando) Photo Negative - A negative of a photograph of Stanley Kowalski (Marlon Brando) from Elia Kazan's A Streetcar Named Desire shot by legendary Hollywood studio photographer John Engstead. In the film, Kowalski engaged in a battle of wits with Blanche DuBois (Vivien Leigh) after she moved in with her sister Stella (Kim Hunter). The film is today regarded as a classic of postwar American cinema, as well as the launching pad for Brando's reputation as the greatest American actor of his generation.

This large format black-and-white photo negative depicting Kowalski smoking in his signature white shirt is printed on safety film in India ink and hand-marked "56" in the upper right corner. Surviving examples of this particular negative are scarce. The negative exhibits minor fading ink and a trimmed top border. Dimensions: 5" x 7" (12.75 cm x 18 cm)

Estimate: $200 - 400
