<B>1766 1/2P Pitt Halfpenny XF45 PCGS.</B></I> Breen-251, Betts-519. For the issue, this delightful Pitt halfpenny has unusually smooth, choice surfaces. Light chestnut-brown toning dominates this piece, except for the left third of the obverse, where the color ends in an abrupt line and becomes a tad darker, probably from years of storage in a cabinet tray or paper holder. William Pitt was one of America's most important political allies during the late Colonial period. This issue commemorates his successful efforts to repeal the Stamp Act.
