Curly Maple Stock Flintlock Fowler / Military Service Musket American Revolutionary War Hudson Valley Style
c. 1760-1770 American Revolutionary War Era, Colonial British/American Hudson Valley Style Flintlock Fowler possible Military Service Musket, Very Fine.
This Revolutionary War Era English / American Hudson Valley Style Flintlock Fowler / Musket has a 43.5", .68 caliber smooth-bore octagon-to-round barrel with a bayonet lug on the top of muzzle, being 58" in overall length. Its French military lock has remnants of markings under the pan area and has Brass furniture and a wood replacement ram rod. The Curly Maple stock is solid, with beautiful decorative High-relief Carving around the under belly of the butt surrounding the trigger guard and in front of the lower brass ram rod pipe. There are minor scratches and dings from years of actual use in service. Overall, it is in good mechanical working order.

This good looking Fowler / Musket may have been longer when originally made and then possibly reduced when adding the bayonet lug for the French & Indian War or the American Revolutionary War military service, or both. This long gun may have been restored or re-converted long ago and if so, the quality of workmanship is excellent. It appears that 13" of the fore-end has been replaced at some point such that the joint is extremely hard to detect and the match to the curly maple is excellent. A rich appearing and pleasing American Hudson Valley Style Flintlock Fowler / Musket that has nice eye appeal for display.
