1757 Timothy Horsfield Autograph Letter With Pennsylvania Indian Content. One page, 7.5” x 12”, Bethlehem, March 14, 1757, to Governor William Denny, integral address leaf. Timothy Horsfield had ample experience in dealing the indigenous Indian tribes in the Moravian heartland of Pennsylvania. As justice of the peace for Northampton county, one his jobs was to protect white settlers and Christian Indians. In this letter he writes about a band of Indian men, women, and children sent by Chief Teedyuscung of the Delaware tribe to assure the white settlers they were for peace. A most interesting letter with excellent early Pennsylvania content. The paper has uniformly toned, the usual fold creases are present, with several areas of loss at the margins not affecting text, almost detached at the fold, else good condition. Ex. Henry E.
