1729 CARD MONEY 24 Livres RARE
The item is an 84 mm x 56 mm 24 livres Card Money note issued in Quebec City under the French Regime. The card is in excellent shape for its age. There are 4 pin holes, 2 on the left top corner next to Varin's signature and 2 on the right hand bottom just right of Hocquart's signature. There is a tear from just under the word "Vingt" to the bottom of the card. Next to it is a fold line running from top to bottom and a partial fold line running through Varin's signature and petering out at Beauharnois's signature. The card has the two required stamps on the top, the crowned circle with 3 Fleurs de lys and the wreathed 3 Fleurs de Lys. The ink is strong and the script is clear. The card was written in the same ink as Varin's signature . The reverse has what appears to be two numbers 4 & 5 and what appears to be an initial as the two lines and stroke are all connected Below that you have two words in two lines that appear to be in the same ink as Varin's name and amount script.
