1725 France ECU - Le Chameau was a 48 gun, 600 ton, French Man-O-War which sank off the coast of Louisbourg, NS on Aug 27th, 1725 with a compliment of 189 passengers and crew loaded with supplies, and the entire military payroll for the troops at Quebec. Recovered in 1965 by Alex Storm. Over 2000 French ecus dated 1724-25 were among the coins salvaged. This coin exhibits a moderate amount of sea corrosion but is very typical of the grade of coins from this wreck.
