1723 FARTH Hibernia Pattern Farthing, Silver MS65 PCGS. Breen-173, which he considered "very rare." Per Breen, "about 20 pieces showed up in England, 1971." This sharply struck Gem has prooflike fields and medium lavender and sea-green toning. Careful rotation fails to locate any noticeable marks. Exceptional eye appeal for this impressive yet collectible William Wood variety. PCGS has certified only 20 silver 1723 Hibernia farthings, but six of those are in circulated grades, which suggests that examples may have circulated as a "bit" in Britain or its colonies. In our May 2007 Central States auction, an MS64 silver example sold for $19,550. Listed on page 42 of the 2008 Guide Book. Population: 2 in 65, 0 finer (8/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
