1723 1/2P Hibernia Specimen Halfpenny SP66 Brown PCGS.<p>Breen-150. This is a simply extraordinary example that is easily recognizable as a specimen. The denticles are broad and sharply defined, and the focal features are equally crisp. Modest hints of brightness are evident in the fields as the coin turns into the light. Both sides display rich glossy-brown patina with blushes of blue-gray patina around the peripheral devices. There is a planchet flaw (as struck, and perfect for pedigree purposes) on the obverse through the R in GRATIA. Breen describes this variety as a "pattern," and also as "very rare." The 1723 Hibernia Halfpenny is listed on page 24 of the 2002 Guide Book. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
