SPACE: FANTASY AND REALITY - William Plumb Collection: Framed Hand-Drawn Lawrence Noble Poster Concept Sketch - A poster concept sketch hand-drawn by Lawrence Noble to promote the Space: Fantasy & Reality art expo. Legendary Star Wars art collector William Plumb brought revered franchise artists Noble, Ralph McQuarrie, and Drew Struzan to the 1986 fundraiser at the Maturango Museum in Ridgecrest, California, to benefit the disabled. The event was supported by contributions from Plumb's artist friends and even Lucasfilm, all of whom loaned materials to Plumb for the display.

This concept sketch from Plumb's personal collection depicts Star Wars droids C-3PO and R2-D2 watching an astronaut pilot a high-tech wheelchair across a moon overlooked by twin suns. It is rendered in graphite on notepaper, labeled "Space Fantasy - Space Reality - Art Expo," dated "April '86," and signed by Noble with annotations in the margins, including "Layout #2" and "Poster Design Bill Plumb." The sketch comes mounted behind glass in a custom gold-color metal frame with a hanging wire on the reverse. The paper exhibits some crinkling, and the frame exhibits minor grime. Dimensions: 16.25" x 12.25" x 1" (41.5 cm x 31.25 cm x 2.5 cm)

Sold without copyright; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.

Estimate: $4,000 - 8,000
