STAR WARS: ORIGINAL TRILOGY (1977-1983) - Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot Reference Helmet - An Imperial TIE fighter pilot reference helmet made by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). Imperial TIE fighter pilots wore their standard-issue helmets during various dogfights throughout George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy, including the climactic sequences where the Millennium Falcon escaped from the Death Star I and when the Rebels staged their last stand on Death Star II.

Designed by John Mollo, with inspiration from Ralph McQuarrie's concept art, TIE fighter pilot helmets were composites of the Imperial stormtrooper helmet and the Rebel pilot helmet. Circa 1995, ILM created this white styrene helmet for Don Post Studios, who then licensed it from Lucasfilm as a reference for the 1997 limited-edition Deluxe Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot Helmet. The helmet was molded directly from a production original held in the Lucasfilm archives with minor modifications around the mohawk, trident, and faceplate believed to have been made to differentiate between original and Don Post helmets.

Finished entirely in gray, this helmet's panels are secured together with metal screws on the interior and exterior, while both inverted tusks are hand-marked "Cut Out." It exhibits scratching, some grime from storage, flaking to the finish, and minor nicks and cracks throughout the styrene. Dimensions: 16" x 12.5" x 13" (40.75 cm x 31.75 cm x 33 cm)

Estimate: $4,000 - 8,000
