17: An Egyptian Frog Scaraboid
Egypt, New Kingdom c. 18th-20th Dynasty, 1550-1070 B.C. Cream colored with a tinge of green, scaraboid of Heket, the goddess of fertility and regeneration represented in the naturalistic form of a frog, with bulging eyes and legs poised as if ready to leap forward, the underside inscribed for "Amun-Re, Lord of Maat", pierced through for suspension. Length: 1/2" (1.2cm)
