16th to 17th century iron powderflask, showing portrait of noblewoman on reverse wearing 4-pointed crown with gold and silver inlay. The chisel work on the portrait is very good. The front of the flask is also nicely worked with scroll design. The flask shows its original hanger and spring, and an old hand-made horn top, which is turned to match and does not appear to be as old as the flask but could have been used with it. The flask measures approx. 7-5/8” by approx. 4-5/8” across the diameter. The flask shows copper flux and is definitely genuine to the wheellock period. The condition is good with some pitting and metal age. Est: $1,000 - $3,000
