16th-century style European double headed battle ax marked “A H” with spurious date 1525 and manufactured in the Victorian era as Castle armor. The wood shaft is nicely studded and ribbed with beautiful pierced metal termination to shaft. Theax measures 21” in length by 9 3/8” across to each edge. Authentic armor and weapons were rare even in the 19th century and several firms organized to re-create antiquities. The best-known was the firm of Schmidt in Germany whose work foolsexperts even today. A very high quality and exceptional ax with great work on the shaft. Est.: $600-$1200
