Hampden Watch Co. Wm. McKinley 16-Size Pocket Watch. The watch features a 17-jewel movement marked "Wm. McKinley" and numbered 3405013. The movement is housed in a Keystone Victory case composed of 10K rolled gold plate, with the case back numbered 4304869. The white dial bears black Arabic numerals, red five-minute markers, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The case back opens to reveal the mechanical movement with visible gears and components. The Hampden Watch Company began as the Mozart Watch Company in 1866, founded by Donald J. Mozart in Providence, Rhode Island. Following the failure of the Mozart Watch Company, it was reorganized in 1867 as the New York Watch Company in Springfield, Massachusetts. After a factory fire in 1870, the company resumed operations in 1877 under the name Hampden Watch Company. In 1923, it became part of the Dueber-Hampden Watch Company. Operations ceased in 1930, and the company's machinery was sold to the Soviet Union, where it was used to establish watch manufacturing in Moscow. Case diameter (excluding the bow): 2"dia.
