1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet MS62 NGC. Noe-4.5, R.5. 74.1 grains, heavier than any of the three Hain Family examples. The open left side of the O in DOM identifies this Richard Picker subvariety of the popular "Backwards N." The first N in ENGLAND is reversed, which demonstrates the inexperience of Early American die engravers. Small mint-made clips are at 1 and 4 o'clock, and a slightly larger clip is at 7 o'clock. A lustrous example with lovely green-gray and ice-blue patina. Well struck in the centers, and most peripheral letters are also bold. Mildly wavy from a couple of small marks on the beaded circle about the tree. Listed on page 37 of the 2007 Guide Book.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
