1652 6PENCE Pine Tree Sixpence VF35 PCGS. Noe-33a, R.5. 34.0 grains. Medium gray with the legends and raised areas of the design a bit lighter and some parts of the fields a bit darker, providing a nice contrast. The Noe-33a variety is used for coins that are from the same dies as Noe-33 but with better planchet centering. Noe-33 coins are only R.2, but well centered specimens, i.e., Noe-33a, are R.5. Noe-33 is typically off center, often with some letters completely off the planchet. This specimen has good centering for the variety though there is some weakness on the obverse legend at the upper left. A corresponding area on the reverse is weak at LAN. Another coin from the great Hain collection of Massachusetts silver.Ex: Hain Family Collection (Stack's, 1/02), lot 169, where it brought $2,530.
