<B>1652 3PENCE Oak Tree Threepence XF45 PCGS.</B></I> No IN on obverse. Crosby 5-B, Noe-27.1, R.7. A rarely seen Noe subvariety that was absent from the Ford auctions. This example has a fully struck tree, and about two-thirds of the legends are bold. Almond-gold and apple-green toning enriches the glossy, unmarked, and moderately wavy surfaces. A straight clip, as made, is noted at 3 o'clock but is distant from the legends.<BR> Noe varieties 23 through 27 are from the same pair of dies, but with differences in the legends and tree due to Boston Mint recutting. Noe-27.1 is intermediate between Noe-26 and Noe-27. The tree is the same as Noe-27 with prominent roots, but the top of the 5 differs, and a die break obscures the EW in NEW. Listed on page 36 of the 2008 <I>Guide Book</B></I>.
