161-180 Roman Empire Marcus Aurelius silver Denarius, Rome mint, obverse laureate and cuirassed bust of Marcus right, lettering M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG, reverse engraved Victory standing left on globe holding wreath and trophy, lettering TR P XXXIIII IMP X COS III P P, D: 18 mm, 2.83 grams. In 166, the war with Parthia was successfully ended. The Parthians left Armenia and eastern Mesopotamia, which both become Roman protectorates.
