Sixteen Humorous Postcards Relating to English Suffragettes. Comic cards are relevant to the suffrage historian because they are an excellent reflection of period social attitudes towards the movement. This lot contains 16 different cards, including a satire of Emmeline Pankhurst, an amused Cupid who refuses to shoot his darts at suffragists, several Bobbies in conflict with suffragists, two hobos confusing a man in kilts with a suffragette, and children illustrating one or more suffrage themes. Included are two cat and one dog cartoon cards that are sometimes attributed to the artist Louis Wain. These cards have some bends because of their glossy nature. In general the other cards are in good to very fine condition. There is some nice value in this lot.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
