CDV of John Schlitt of the 15th New York Heavy Artillery, Company M. Image signed in ink to verso, ''John Schlitt'': identified from an album of 15th New York Heavy Artillery soldiers. Schlitt enlisted at Newburgh, New York and mustered into service on 20 January 1864. He mustered out with the rest of the regiment on 22 August 1865 at Washington, D.C. The 15th New York saw action at Fort Lyon, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Bethesda Church, Cold Harbor and Petersburg. Some darkening to image, else good condition.
