11EP10380 A Young Boy With Praying Hands And Peaceful Eyes, Spreads The Word Of God. A Tall Cross Rests In The Crook Of His Arm As He Gazes Upwards. He Is A Brown Patina With Subtle Touches Of Gold In His Curls And Along The Sash Around His Nude Waist Which Cascades Behind Him. His Body Is Carefully Sculpted. You Can Notice The Cut Of His Stomach, Arms, Curve Of His Spine And Even The Bend In His Knee Cap As He Comes To Rest. The Intertwined Cross He Leans On Is Removable. 100% Handmade And Fully Detailed Brown Patina With Touches Of Gold, Using The Lost Wax Method. It Is Mounted On A Wide Round Black Marble Base And Is Signed By Artist Carrier. Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824 - 1887) Trained As A Goldsmith Before Entering The Ecole Des Beaux-Arts In 1840 Under The Sponsorship Of Pierre-Jean David D’Angers. He Only Stayed There For A Short Time Before Switching To The Petite Ecole To Study Decorative Arts. Carrier-Belleuse Worked In London From 1850 To 1855, Designing Ceramics And Metalwork Models For Companies. Beginning In 1857, He Exhibited Large Sculptures At The Salon And Received Medals And Important Commissions. From 1851 To 1870, Emperor Napoleon Iii Hired Him To Work On The Rebuilding Of Paris. Carrier-Belleuse’S Work Incorporated A Variety Of Styles And Influences Including Naturalism, Realism, Neo-Baroque, And Rococo.
