CDV of James Oliver of the 14th New York Heavy Artillery. Oliver mustered into Field & Staff of the 14th New York Heavy Artillery on 10 September 1863 as an assistant surgeon. He died of disease just two months later on 10 November 1863 at Fort Richmond, New York. The 14th New York was engaged at Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg and the Wilderness. Pencil inscription to verso reads, ''Died Nov. 10th 1863 At Fort Richmond In New York Harbor.'' Corners are trimmed. Some overall toning, otherwise very good condition.
