GLADIATOR (2000) - Commodus' (Joaquin Phoenix) Final Battle Costume - Commodus' (Joaquin Phoenix) final battle costume from Ridley Scott's Gladiator. The Roman emperor wore his ceremonial arena costume for the final duel with Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe) on the sands of the Colosseum.

Gladiator won a total of five Academy Awards with Russell Crowe winning for Best Actor, and Joaquin Phoenix being nominated for Best Supporting Actor. The film received numerous reviews with some commenting that Crowe's performance was impeccable due to his old-fashioned style of intensity.

Following Gladiator's release, this costume was sold in the original DreamWorks auction. It consists of a thin white silk-like top, tunic, pants, chest armor with an attached leather cingulum militare and cotton tassel detailing, bracers, and greaves. The armor is of hero-style construction, made of dense foam rubber and urethane with a thin leatherette surface covering finished in bone-color paint. Each armor component is decorated with highly detailed resin motifs, applied individually, including charioteers, a crucified figure, Praetorian guardsmen, and sphinxes. Presented on a custom-made display, the costume shows signs of minor cracking, scuffing, and paint wear on the armor components, notably on the front of the torso. Dimensions: (display) 15.75" x 23.75" x 65.5" (40 cm x 60.5 cm x 166.5 cm)
