This is a really hard to find homemade Amish doll. I'm guess she is from the 1940's or 1950's. At the time of posting I have her sister for sale also. Both dolls are made the same way. She is appears to be stuffed with some kind of brown material because I can see into the torso where the legs are joined and the stitching has pulled out. In her sister I could see rags, but I can't tell on this one. This one has more wear at the legs, rips in the heavy oil cloth material. Her legs have been reattached at some time with black yarn. It is so great to have her clothing. She has a black light weight fitted cotton cap, then the heavy black outter Amish hat, a purple cotton dress with rickrack and two buttons and homemade holes on the back. The pink cotton over apron? ties in the back at the neck. The outter black bonnet is in the Amish type and has blue ties, not sure if they have been added or not but sister's is the same way. There is a name inside the bonnet Nettie. She has the remains of a pacificer. She also has a heavy lined cape. The outer color is black and the lining is a dark green flannel. What a great find. She is made of a heavy oil cloth material. She weighs about a pound. She is from a smoke free environment. Buyer to pay $15 for shipping, insurance and handling. Thanks for viewing.
