138. Christian Gobrecht 1785-1844 .999 Fine Silver Commemorative Medal Medal in original box of issue. The obverse depicts the eagle found on the Flying Eagle Cent. The reverse memorializes the Christian Gobrecht. Minted by The Metal Arts Co., Inc., Rochester, New York. Marked on the edge. It's part of a series of six medals honouring "great coinage engravers" - the set comprises Augustus Saint-Gaudens, V.D. Brenner, Charles E Barber, Christian Gobrect, Euaenetos of Syacuse and Longacre / Morgan. They were put out in the 1960s by Tovio Johnson. This one according to my research was minted in 1964. They are extremely rare as most were melted. This one is No. 47. It has a small rim bruise. It weighs 6.94 troy ozs.
