<B> 1366 English Legal Document. </B></I> One page, 11" x 4", Southam, Eve of Purification, February 1st, 1366. This legal document is written in type of rounded Blackletter, and states the intention of a woman named Elena Hathemere to exchange her inheritance for cash in hand.. The language is Middle English in form, the document reads (modern translation); <I> "Conveyance, Elena Hathemere of Cherletone hynges to Richard the clerk of Wodemancote and heirs, for cash in hand, all her property, rents and services, with trees, hedges, ditches, meadows, feedings, pastures, heriots, reliefs, stew-ponds, etc., which she had by inheritance after death of Richard Colyn in town and fields of Southam and Wodemancote. Witnesses John Moryn, John Wyntur, William de Agmodesham, John Lorewynche, John atte Halle, William Chaumon, Robert Leuerew, Walter atte Wode. Southam, Eve of Purification B.V.M., 40, Edward III." </B></I> The document is sealed with a green slip of parchment that has been somewhat discolored over time. Southam and Wodemancote still exist in Gloucestershire England only with slightly different spellings of their names.
