11DW09680 Condition: This sculpture is in perfect condition. Bronze Dimensions with Marble Base:Height 12" x Width 14" Marble Dimensions: Diameter 10" Height without base: 11" Weight : 16 LBS Inventory : 69DW0966296 Elephants are truly beautiful creatures. They are also the largest living land animals on earth. This statue is so realistic that it almost looks like a tiny elephant walking across your desk. If it wasn't mounted on a solid piece of black marble, you would think that it was real! The artist, Antoine Louis Barye, really captured every muscle on the body and every wrinkle in the skin. With its trunk raised and ears open, this elephant is sure to catch the attention of any audience walking past it. "An elephant never forgets." Elephants are a symbol of wisdom in Asian cultures and are famed for their memory and intelligence, where they are thought to be on par with cetaceans and hominids. Aristotle once said the elephant was "the beast which passeth all others in wit and mind." The brown patina compliments the exquisite details of its large round body. 100% bronze and handmade, this sculpture was cast using the "Lost Wax Method" and signed by Barye. Antoine Louis Barye was born in France September 24th, 1796 and died in 1875. Most of his work focused exclusively on animals, most of them wild. He was considered an Animalier, a sculptor whose works are mostly animals. Barye is a very accomplished sculptor and artist, he has exhibited some of his works in the Salon, and some of his works reside in the Lourve...................SHIPPING USA: $25....HI, ALASKA, CANADA: $69...ALL OTHER COUNTRIES: $169
