This is a fabulous lot of 12 photographs dating from the 19th century. I find this kind of thing so interesting. The saying - a picture is worth a thousand words - feels so true when you look into the eyes of these people ? who are young and old, women and men. I really don?t know where to start ? They are all so interesting and each one deserves proper attention. 3 of them are on tin ? and they are easy to pick out in the pictures here because they are slightly darker. The larger one is of any older man who looks to be in his late 60?s or older, the second one it of a young man and the third is framed in a white paper case with a very classical design embracing the photo. That one is printed on the bottom ? Patented Oct. 18, 1838 8 Wing 290 Washington St. Boston. There are five photographs which are all basically the same size of two women and three men. On these the photographs are applied to a finished cardboard backing. They all have printing on them ? the two of the young man and woman read ? Mezzotint Photographs, process patented July 16, 1867, Meinerth?s License, No 166. HL Kilgore Photographer Belfast, Maine. The other woman?s photograph reads Berlin Photographs By WC Tuttle High St. Belfast, ME. The second mans photo reads ? Boynton & Heald, heliographic Artists 313 Washington St Boston, Mass.
